March comes in like a lamb

MADISON, Wisc. — March usually marks the transition of winter to spring in Wisconsin. The first day of meteorological spring is March 1, while spring equinox- which is commonly called the first day of spring- is March 19. This transition usually leads to rocky weather early in the month as temperatures start to climb. Average temperatures start in the middle 30s for early March and then climb to 50 degrees by March 31.
This year, March will start off quite quietly. Temperatures will stay above average for the first week of March along with mostly dry conditions. There will be a slight chance of a rain shower Thursday, but most of southern Wisconsin will stay dry.
