The man who robbed a north Madison McDonald’s turned himself in to police last week, police said.

Madison police said 29-year-old Anthony D. Hinrichs, of Madison, confessed to the robbery at the restaurant at 2901 Dryden Drive that happened the evening of Feb. 15.

Police said Wednesday that Hinrichs told officers he robbed the McDonald’s to get money for drugs.

Hinrichs is accused of ordering cookies at the McDonald’s counter at 6:55 p.m., then stepping behind the counter and demanding the cashier open the register. He passed a note saying he was robbing her and left with cash.
