Man who fell asleep at gas pump charged with 5th OWI, officials say
MIDDLETON, Wis. — A man was charged with his fifth OWI after officers found him asleep in his vehicle at a Kwik Trip pumping station, officials said.
Middleton police responded to a call Tuesday at 7:17 a.m. reporting that two people were passed out in a vehicle at the pumps of the Kwik Trip at 7508 Century Ave. in Middleton, according to a report.
Officers responded with Middleton Emergency Medical Services personnel and found a male and female who had fallen asleep, officials said.
The driver of the vehicle was Michael E. Irvine, 50, of Fitchburg. He showed signs of impairment and failed sobriety tests, according to the report.
He was assessed and released by EMS officials, then arrested on suspicion of fifth offense operating while intoxicated and taken in to Dane County Jail, police said.
