Man who accepts ride home from bar attacked by passengers, police say

A Madison man was attacked and robbed by fellow passengers as he was getting a ride home early Wednesday morning, police said.

Madison police said a 44-year-old accepted a ride home from a bar. He was in a car with two men and a woman when the car stopped somewhere near the intersection of South Stoughton Road and East Broadway.

According to the report, the man was pulled out of the car, punched and kicked by the other two men. The victim told police he may have lost consciousness for a brief time.

During the attack, cash was stolen from the man’s wallet and his cellphone was taken, the report said.

He approached a worker at a nearby business for help. The victim was taken to a hospital, but was not seriously injured, police said.
