Police arrest man near Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The man wanted in connection with a Beloit woman’s murder has been apprehended in Tennessee.
Authorities there arrested Kody Walsh Sunday afternoon near Memphis.
Walsh is wanted on first-degree murder charges after police said he shot and killed Lori Ann Daniels, 36, last week. Police said Walsh shot Daniels as they were driving from Rockford, Ill. toward Wisconsin on Interstate 39/90.
Investigators said Walsh fled from authorities in Wisconsin while firing gunshots at them.
Tennessee authorities said they tried to pull Walsh over for a traffic stop Sunday, when he led them on a chase. Walsh’s vehicle crashed and he was taken into custody.
Illinois State Police investigators will be working with Tennessee officials and the Winnebago County States Attorney to coordinate the extradition of Walsh to Rockford.
