A man working in the town of Dunn Tuesday afternoon was taken to a hospital in serious condition after falling out of a bucket truck, officials said.

Emergency crews were called to 3786 Rutland-Dunn Townline Road at 1:10 p.m. for reports of a man who fell out of a bucket truck, officials said.

Crews found a 50-year-old Albany man unconscious on the ground, deputies said.

Investigators said the man was working with a private tree-trimming service and was not working on the power lines when he fell approximately 75 feet to the ground.

It appears the boom of the bucket truck might have been extended too far and the boom snapped where it connects to the truck, deputies said. As the boom and bucket went down, it took power lines down with it, but they do not believe the man was electrocuted.

When the man was taken by Med Flight to UW Hospital, he was breathing, officials said.

About 45 customers lost power in Dane County, according to the Alliant Energy outage map. Officials said Alliant Energy crews are working to restore power in the area.
