Man transported to hospital by MedFlight after crashing into semitruck, sheriff says

A man was transported to the hospital by MedFlight after a crash involving a semitruck Monday, according to a news release from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials responded to the crash in the Town of Otsego around 4:10 p.m. at State Highway 16 and County Highway A.

A Pontiac G6 was northbound on County Highway A when it failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the trailer of a semitruck driving eastbound on State Highway 16.

The man driving the Pontiac was seriously injured and transported by MedFlight to a local hospital.

Failure to stop and alcohol consumption were factors in the crash, according to the release. The crash is under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Officials are not releasing names at this time.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Rio EMS, Rio Fire, Wyocena Fire, Dolylestown Fire and Sun Prairie paramedics.
