Man Suspected Of Firing At Hunter In Walworth Co.
Walworth County authorities have called off their search for a person suspected of opening fire on a hunter with a handgun.
A father and son who were hunting deer on the public hunting grounds of the Kettle Moraine Forest near the Walworth County and Jefferson County line were involved in the incident on Saturday morning, according to the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials said the father and son were both wearing blaze orange when another hunter dressed in camouflage or similar clothing fired at the father, nearly hitting him.
They said the father fired back with his hunting rifle.
The father and son were not injured, but authorities said it is not known if the other man was hurt.
Authorities from several agencies searched the area for seven hours using SWAT and K9 teams, and a police helicopter. No further searches are planned.
Neighboring residences have been contacted about this incident, authorities said.
