Man shot multiple times in Madison gas station lot, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A man was shot Sunday in a gas station parking lot on Madison’s near west side, police said.
The Madison Police Department responded around 8 p.m. to a shooting at the 7-Eleven in the 2200 block of South Park Street.
Police said the 32-year-old man who was shot told officers he had gone inside the 7-Eleven and was returning to his car when a gunman, who was on foot, began firing. He was hit several times.
His girlfriend, a 24-year-old Sun Prairie woman who was inside the parked car, was also injured. She suffered a bruised arm, but was not shot. Police said Monday it still wasn’t clear how she was injured.
Madison police said officers found a vehicle with bullet holes in a window and a side door as well as multiple shell casings at the scene. A short time later, the man and woman showed up at a hospital with gunshot wounds, police said. The injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing. Police said the man who was shot lives in Madison and Chicago.
