Man robbed at gunpoint while offering gas money, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A man who got out cash to pay a driver for gas was instead robbed at gunpoint, according to a release from Madison police.
The 55-year-old victim told police he was walking early Sunday morning near West Washington Avenue when he heard a car horn. He said he saw two acquaintances in a car being driven by a man he didn’t know. He said the passengers offered him a ride if he was willing to pay for fuel.
The man said they were at Brittingham Park when he took out his money, just as the driver took out a gun.
The man told police he was robbed and kicked out of the car. The robbers remian at large.
