Man refuses to ID himself after being caught selling stolen bike, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A man who refuses to identify himself to police is facing charges after being busted trying to sell a stolen bicycle, according to a release.
A woman whose Trek bicycle was stolen from her Erin Street home, spotted a listing on Craigslist for the $700 bike and contacted police, officials said. The victim arranged to meet the seller near Library Mall Monday night, and officers were in position when the man arrived with her stolen bike.
When officers asked the man questions, including what his name was, they most got a blank stare in return, according to the release. Efforts to identify the man are ongoing.
When he was arrested, he was carrying a backpack with a laptop computer and tools that could be used to cut bike locks, officers said.
