Man pleads guilty to charge connected to State Street shooting
MADISON, Wis. — The man accused of shooting another man above a State Street bar reached a plea deal Tuesday.
Derrick D. Paige, 28, of Madison, pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless injury. A charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm was dismissed.
Officials responded to a report of shots fired in an apartment building located above Whiskey Jack’s bar on State Street on May 23.
When officers arrived, the 36-year-old victim had two gunshot wounds, one on his head and one on his arm. The man was taken to a hospital for emergency medical treatment.
