A 2-year-old was left in a car for hours while his father went to gamble inside a gaming facility on Madison’s East Side, according to Madison police.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at the Ho-Chunk gaming facility in the 4000 block of Evan Acres Road.

According to police, a security officer called police after he found the 2-year-old was left alone in the car parked inside the facility’s parking lot.

Police soon arrested Matthew Hong, 29, after he was found inside the facility. After being questioned by police, Hong admitted he had been in the casino about two hours.

He told police that he was homeless, living out of the car, and that he was gambling to try to make some money so he and the young boy could eat.

A family member picked the child up while Hong was taken to jail, police said.
