Man killed in fatal rollover crash identified
JANESVILLE, Wis. — The victim of a fatal rollover crash on Highway 11 in Janesville Wednesday has been identified.
Calvin Hanchett, 38, of Janesville was a passenger in an SUV that left the road and struck a fixed object.
According to the release, three people were in the vehicle at the time of the one-vehicle wreck at about 2:30 p.m. on West Court Street just east of Austin Road. Driver Leon E. Bridges, 27, of Brooklyn, and Michael J. Asmus, 60, of Janesville were injured. Bridges was ejected from the vehicle. Asmus had to be extricated by fire personnel. Both were taken to the hospital.
Hanchett died at the scene as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, according to the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Departmetn.
Officers are still investigating the crash, including whether speed or alcohol were factors, according to the release.
A portion of Highway 11 was closed for about 4 hours Wednesday while crews investigated the crash. Police said Thursday that a team was conducting a reconstruction of the crash.
