Man, killed in crash on foggy night, identified

Cambridge man killed in motorcycle crash in town of Christiana, identified

The man killed in a crash, likely caused in part by fog and wet pavement at a T intersection in Green County Monday night, is identified Wednesday according to a release.

Green County sheriff’s deputies were sent to the intersection of county roads C and J in the town of Adams around 8:10 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle crash, officials said.

Another driver noticed that a pickup truck had left the road and collided with a tree in the west ditch, according to the release.

The driver of the truck, 49-year-old Jonathan M. Austin, of Darlington, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Investigators said the driver was not able to stop at the T intersection because of heavy fog and wet pavement. The driver was wearing a seat belt.

The driver will be identified pending notification of family members, officials said.

This is the second traffic fatality in Green County this year.
