Man killed in ‘brutal assassination’ at gas station identified
MADISON, Wis. — The man who was shot in what Madison police chief Mike Koval called a “brutal assassination” early Wednesday has been identified.
The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office said Thursday that 32-year-old Kendrith J. Young, of Waukesha, was killed at the scene of the shooting, the 7-Eleven gas station on the 2000 block of West Beltline Highway.
Another man was also shot in the gas station lot, but he’s expected to survive. The man suffered numerous gunshot wounds below his waist.
No one is in custody. Koval said surveillance video of the incident that are “absolutely grotesque” and “shows how calculated” the deadly shooting was.
Young’s death is the 10th homicide in Madison this year, and the third in less than a week.
Koval said Young and the shooter know each other.
