Man injured in several-story fall from Madison parking structure
MADISON, Wis. — A 32-year-old man was injured when he fell from a downtown Madison parking structure early Thursday, police said.
Madison police said a Fond du Lac man was in Madison with friends to attend a show. The group was using Google Maps to find their way back to their hotel from a bar on Williamson Street at 2:40 a.m. The route took them along Lake Monona to a Monona Terrace elevator. They got off on the top level of the parking structure.
According to the report, as the group began to walk toward the Hilton Hotel, the man decided to jump over a concrete barrier. He placed both hands on it, went over and thought he would land on a surface at the same level.
Instead, he fell several floors to the railroad tracks below, police said. He was taken to a hospital with a badly broken arm.
