Man injured in gunfire incident at Verona Road gas station

A 27-year-old Belleville man suffered a head wound Monday night in a gunfire incident at a gas station on Verona Road, according to a release from Madison police.

The man showed up at the MPD South District building at 8:45 p.m. with a head wound. He told police that someone shot at him at a BP gas station at 4501 Verona Road.

Police said there was a hole in the rear window that could have been caused by a bullet. It was not clear if the man was injured by flying glass, a bullet fragment or something else.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The man said a man in another car shot at him. Detectives said they believe the man was targeted and the shooting was not a random act of violence.
