Man in ‘survival mode’ fights off 3 would-be muggers, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man was able to fight off three attackers who were attempting to steal from him on Madison’s east side Sunday night, according to a report.
The Madison Police Department said a 29-year-old man was walking on Williamson Street at South Dickinson Street at about 10:30 p.m. when a trio of men ran up to him and started an attack.
The man told police he went into “survival mode,” fighting back as one of the men began punching him in the face.
The victim told police another attacker struck him in the head and that someone tried to run their hands through his pockets. He was able to prevent the three would-be thieves from taking his property and they ran off as he continued to defend himself.
Police said he described his attackers as being mixed race, in their late teens to early 20s and all wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.
