Man dies from injuries after New Year’s Day crash

MADISON, Wis. — A man who suffered life-threatening injuries during a New Year’s Day crash died over the weekend.

The man was driving a pickup truck south on Whitney Way near Mineral Point Road when he veered off the road and hit a tree, according to a release from the Madison Police Department. The crash was reported around 4 a.m. Friday.

First responders had to cut the man from a “heavily damaged truck,” the release said.

Police said alcohol appeared to be a factor in this crash.
