A Brodhead man died after a crash involving a motorcycle and two cars late Tuesday night, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 11 and County Highway G in the Town of Spring Grove.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, a driver going eastbound on Highway 11 turned southbound on Highway G in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the rear passenger side of the car, ejecting the 52-year-old man riding the motorcycle.

Another driver was going eastbound on Highway 11 and struck the motorcycle and the driver, causing the motorcycle to catch fire, authorities said.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Donald Ormond, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County coroner. None of the drivers of the cars were injured. The motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet.

Sheriff’s deputies said failure to yield right of way was a contributing factor in the crash.

This was the fifth fatal crash in Green County in 2012, authorities said.
