Man climbs 10-story construction crane to take selfie, officials say

Men hired to clean gutters stole jewelry instead, police say

A Madison man was arrested Sunday morning for trespassing after climbing to the top of a construction crane and taking a selfie, police said.

A concerned passer-by noticed the 25-year-old man climbing a 10-story construction crane around 6:20 a.m. at the downtown construction site at 102 N. Bedford St., according to a release.

When officers arrived, the man waved from the top of the crane and started to climb back down, but then stopped, police said.

Officers coaxed the man to come all the way down, which is when he said he wanted to take pictures from up high, according to the release.

He was arrested on charges of criminal trespass onto a construction site.
