Man charged with disorderly conduct after incident at kids camp

A Madison man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after an alleged disturbance at a kids summer camp on the city’s south side.

Madison police said concerned citizens outside the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County on Taft Street flagged down an officer at about 3:30 p.m. An angry man had entered the club building and threatened staff members. At the time, there were about 100 children at the club attending summer camp.

The man left on a moped, according to the report. Officers caught up with 44-year-old Douglas C. Morgan Jr. at a nearby park. Morgan reportedly yelled at police, used racial slurs and accused police of targeting him.

Morgan was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Police said officers are requesting that Morgan be banned from the Boys and Girls Club as a condition of his bail.
