Man charged in killing of Middleton teens released after posting bail

MADISON, Wis. – The man charged in the killing of three Middleton teens in a drunk driving crash was released from jail Friday after posting bail, according to his attorney.

Eric Mehring’s cash bond was set at $75,000 Thursday.

Attorney Chris Van Wagner told News 3 Now that various monitoring devices are being installed to ensure Mehring complies with the conditions of his release.

Mehring, 30, made an initial court appearance Thursday with the families of all three victims present.

He is charged with three counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, three counts of second-degree reckless homicide, and two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety.
