Man attempting to drive vehicle from ditch charged with 4th OWI

A Janesville man faces a fourth drunken-driving charge after law enforcement found him stuck in the ditch in his vehicle early Saturday, according to a news release.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on the 2900 block of Milwaukee Road in Beloit at 2:38 a.m. The deputy and a town of Beloit officer found a man attempting to get his vehicle out of the ditch.

The deputy smelled intoxicants on the breath of the driver, 43-year-old Anthony Ambrose, according to the report.

The sheriff’s office said Ambrose refused to perform field sobriety tests.

Ambrose was arrested on suspicion of fourth-offense operating while intoxicated. He was taken to the Rock County Jail where he’ll be held until a court appearance Monday, the sheriff’s office said.
