Man arrested following disturbance at north side bar
Police: Man took offense at employee carding woman
MADISON, Wis. — A 23-year-old Madison man was arrested late Saturday at a north side bar after police say he didn’t like the way an employee at the bar was checking a woman for identification.
Police said the suspect got into a fight with a bouncer, who was trying to check the identification of a woman attempting to enter the bar. The incident happened just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Villa Tap in the 2300 block of Packers Avenue.
According to police, Thomas Sturtevant started insulting the employee. Police said Sturtevant took the ID from the bouncer and became verbally abusive before the employee attempted to escort his from the bar.
Sturtevant starting swinging and hit an employee and continued to struggle as police arrived.
Police said Sturtevant was charged with battery, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer.
