Man arrested after injuring deputy with car, crashing into marsh
The deputy suffered a minor injury
MADISON, Wis. — Dane County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Saturday night a man after he injured an officer with his car before crashing into a marsh.
Deputies say Calvin Martinez-Alvear, 23, of Madison was pulled over for driving erratically on Rutland-Dunn Town Line Road just before midnight.
Martinez-Alvear was reportedly uncooperative with authorities and drove away during the stop, nearly hitting a deputy, who suffered a minor hand injury.
The deputy followed after Martinez-Alvear, eventually finding his car partially submerged in a marsh near Lake Kegonsa Road.
Martinez-Alvear tried to flee the scene on foot but was caught and arrested.
A search found a pistol, a backpack containing THC, and a jacket containing Martinez-Alvear’s ID, cash, and more THC.
Martinez-Alvear was charged with causing injury to an LEO by resisting, fleeing an officer, operating while intoxicated, carrying a concealed weapon, possession with intent to deliver THC, and going armed while intoxicated.
He is being held at the Dane County Jail
