Man and woman steal over $2,000 worth of high-end liquor, police say

Madison police say a man and a woman walked out of an east side store without paying for more than $2,000 worth of high-end alcohol Sunday afternoon.

Police said the suspects covered bottles of liquor with large packs of paper towels and pushed the shopping cart out of Hy-Vee on East Washington Avenue about 1 p.m.

Police said liquor brand names included in the theft were Midleton Barry Crockett, Tullemore Dew, Glenrothes, Power John Lane, Compass Box Lost, Glenlivet Nadorra, Peat Monster and Blanton’s Original.

According to police, the couple also stole the paper towels used to conceal the liquor.
