Man allegedly under the influence instigates tug-of-war with baby
Police: Father was able to convince Cambridge man to let go of 1-year-old
MADISON, Wis. — A man acting strangely in an East Towne Mall store tried taking a baby from her father Sunday morning, Madison police said.
An employee of the East Towne Sears said there was a “tug-of-war” going on with the baby around 11:15 a.m., according to a release.
Thomas J. Traver, 25, of Cambridge, allegedly grabbed the 1-year-old child from her father and yelled, “It’s my baby,” officials said. The father told police he knows Traver, and was eventually able to convince him to let the child go.
The father told police he thought Traver was acting strangely because he had ingested synthetic marijuana.Madison crime map
Police said Traver was observed wobbling from side to side, and he had very red and watery eyes. Traver also had a marijuana pipe and synthetic marijuana in his pocket.
Traver was arrested on tentative charges of physical abuse of a child, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to abuse a hazardous substance and on a probation hold.
