Man admits to drinking, driving, arrested on felony OWI charges
Police stop vehicle for speeding, driver fails field sobriety tests
AFTON, Wis. — A Beloit man was arrested on drunken driving charges Saturday night after admitting to drinking alcohol before driving and failing field sobriety tests, officials said.
Around 7:10 p.m. a Rock County sheriff’s deputy stopped a black 1997 Ford Ranger for speeding in the village of Afton, according to a release. The deputy smelled alcohol in the vehicle, and the driver, Adolphlus V. Crawford, 47, admitted to drinking alcohol before driving.
Crawford failed field sobriety tests, and was arrested on fourth-offense felony charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, officials said. He will also tentatively be cited for operating with a revoked license and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
Crawford is expected to make his initial appearance in court Monday afternoon.
