Man accused of strangling man over money
Man is jailed on $1 million cash bail
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — A Wisconsin man is accused of strangling another man with a belt in an argument over money.
The Leader-Telegram reported that 45-year-old Larry Fernandez of Ladysmith was charged Tuesday in Eau Claire County with first-degree intentional homicide.
Eau Claire Police Chief Jerry Matysik said Fernandez strangled 52-year-old Brian Harvey at Harvey’s home in August and dumped his body in Rusk County.
Matysik said another man witnessed the slaying and saw Fernandez conceal Harvey’s body.
Fernandez was arrested Thursday. He told authorities where to find Harvey’s body, but said the other man committed the slaying while the three men were at Harvey’s trailer.
Human remains were found Monday and an autopsy identified them as Harvey’s.
Fernandez is in jail on $1 million cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 30.
