Man accused of having copper from Edgewater Hotel project site

A Mount Horeb man had more than $2,000 worth of copper taken from the Edgewater Hotel project construction site in his truck, according to a release from Madison police.

Police said a construction worker spotted the truck in a parking lot off Langdon Street Thursday and officers found the copper under a tarp and a blanket in the back of the truck.

Copper wire and pipes were taken from the construction site the night before, according to the contractor. The contractor identified some of the copper as the stolen copper.

Brandon J. Kalish, 31, was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a probation hold.
