Impaired driver causes two crashes in Madison, police say
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police say a man who was driving while impaired caused two crashes Thursday morning.
According to the incident report, the incident happened at 10:08 a.m.
Witnesses said Adam L. Eggers, 38, was slumped behind the wheel of his car and looked like he was sleeping when he rear-ended a vehicle at the intersection of South Stoughton Road and Pflaum Road. The report said the driver backed up and drove through the intersection after the collision.
Authorities said the car crashed a second time in the intersection and that police eventually caught up with him.
Eggers was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and was arrested for operating while impaired, hit-and-run and reckless driving.
The report said the driver involved in the second crash suffered a cut to the hand, but police said no serious injuries were reported.
