Man accused of attacking woman, breaking her jaw outside bar in custody, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A Fitchburg man accused of attacking a woman outside a bar and breaking her jaw is in custody, police said.
Madison police said Monday that Ralph J. Mitchell Jr., 27, was arrested in Outagamie County.
Police had been looking for Mitchell in connection with an incident in the 400 block of West Gilman Street shortly after midnight on Sept. 30.
Police said Mitchell was one of a few men who had tried to talk to the 23-year-old woman and her friends at the bar, but the women said they weren’t interested.
Mitchell reportedly confronted the woman outside the bar and punched her in the face, causing many injuries including a broken jaw.
Police said officers have probable cause to arrest him on suspicion of substantial battery.
