Mallards win, move into first place
Welsh pitches Madison to 2-0 victory
MADISON, Wis. — Greg Welsh allowed just one hit over seven innings as the Madison Mallards defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 2-0 at Warner Park Friday night.
The Mallards win coupled with LaCrosse’s 4-3 win over Lakeshore moved the Mallards into first place in the Northwoods League South Division with an 18-10 record.
John LaPrise went four for four with an RBI. Mike Reuvekamp drove in the other run for the Mallards.
Welsh is now 4-0 on the season with a 2.25 earned run average.
Hunter May pitched the ninth for his seventh save of the season.
The Mallards hit the road to play at Battle Creek Saturday night.
