Mallards try to get back to .500 Monday
MADISON, Wis. — Six Madison Mallards had RBI hits Sunday as part of a strong offensive effort to give the Mallards a 9-3 victory over the Lakeshore Chinooks Sunday in Northwoods league action.
The Mallards swept the Chinooks in the two game series at the Duck Pond.
The team started with the offensive fireworks early. The Mallards were down 1-0 in the first when Jose Trevino got a base hit to score Tyler Marincov to tie the game at 1-1.
In the bottom of the third, it’s Trevino again. His second hit and his second RBI brings home Marincov again.
The Mallards broke open the game with 3 runs in the eighth, and another three runs in the ninth following Matt Reubenkamp’s bases clearing double.
Mallards starter Kurt Giller earned his first win of the season by pitching five innings, striking out four and only allowing two runs.
The Mallards (9-10) now head to Green Bay to start a three game series with the Green Bay Bullfrogs. They will return to the Duck Pond on Thursday.
