Mallards croak to Bullfrogs at Duck Pond

The Madison Mallards exploded for 16 hits — six of them for extra-bases —  on their way to a convincing 16-1 victory over the Kalamazoo Growlers Wednesday night at Warner Park.

Jonathan Quintana led the way for the Mallards, going 3-for-3 with three runs batted in.  Anthony Gonsolin chipped in with his first home run of the season, while J.J. Gould also got 3 RBI’s and scored twice on his way to going 3-for-5.

Nate Hoffmann allowed one earned run on two hits, one walk and four strikeouts over five innings. Scott Moss,Tyler Frowirth, Vince Arobio, and Mike Kaelin, combined for four innings of relief and seven strikeouts out of Madison’s bullpen.

The Mallards will now starting focusing toward Thursday night’s home game against the Wisconsin Woodchucks following their 2-0 start.
