Maine senators file resolution for National Lobster Day

Lobsters are going to have their day.

U.S. senators from New England introduced a resolution to designate Sept. 25 as National Lobster Day, according to The Associated Press.

Not only will the popular seafood be honored, but so will its economic, historic, cultural and culinary contributions.

Senators Angus King and Susan Collins, both of Maine, said it will also be a way to honor the people who harvest, cook and ship lobster.

National Lobster Day will no doubt be a good day to get some tasty deals at restaurants and markets across the country.

Maine led the nation in American lobster landings in 2016 with 132 million lbs., valued at nearly $540 million, the AP said.
