Magdalen M. (Maggie) Luxton

MIDDLETON/MADISON-Magdalen M. (Maggie) Luxton, age 88, of Madison died on Monday, September 17, 2012. She was born on February 18, 1924 at Springfield Corners, WI., the oldest of the 11 children of the late John Henry and Emma Mae (Schmitt) Simon.

She attended St. Martin’s Catholic School in Martinsville and was a 1941 graduate of Middleton High School. During World War II she was employed at Bell Telephone, Madison. On June 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Roland Charles Luxton. They lived in Springfield Corners and moved to the City of Middleton in 1978. She was a retiree of Cuna Mutual. They were members of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Middleton where she was a member of the Living Rosary.

Magdalen is survived by her sisters, with whom she kept a close and loving relationship, Lorraine Hellenbrand, Emogene (Vern) Frederick, Elaine Busch, Diana (William) Scherer, Judella (Paul) Olson; sisters-in-law, Dolores Simon, Alice Simon, Laura Schwaller; brothers-in-law, Gregory Dahmen and Arnold Endres and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland in 1987, her parents, brothers, Jack Simon and Stanley Simon; sisters, Mary Ann Dahmen, Donna Mae Statz and Marlene Endres; brothers-in-law, LaVerne Hellenbrand, Marland Busch and Fred Statz; her grandparents, William and Emma Simon, Peter and Magdalen Schmitt; a special aunt Susan Schmitt and her father and mother-in-law, Charles and Edith Luxton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 21, 2012, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.
