MadMarket Double Dollar program to start at 2 weekend markets
Two Madison-area farmers’ markets will be participating in the MadMarket Double Dollar program Sunday, according to a release.
The program allows SNAP/FoodShare users to get a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $30 per person, for any vendor at one of four participating farmers markets in the city, according to the release.
The program starts Sunday at the Northside Farmers’ Market from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and at the South Madison Farmers’ Market at the Labor Temple from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the release.
Officials said the program will start at the Eastside Farmers’ Market at Wil-Mar on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m., at the South Madison Farmers’ Market at the Labor Temple on Tuesdays from 2-6 p.m., and at the Villager Mall on Fridays from 2-6 p.m.
Madison Mayor Paul Soglin and representatives from four area health care organizations announced the program last month.
The health care providers have contributed funding for the program, which will be administered through the Community Action Coalition, according to the release. The partners hope to bring the program to every farmers’ market in Madison next year.
