Madison woman says she was sexually assaulted, battered by Uber driver, police say

A Madison woman in her 20s reported a sexual assault that she says took place Friday night when she got a ride home via Uber, according to officials.

The Madison Police Department was dispatched to Unity Point Health Meriter hospital Monday night. The woman said she was assaulted some time after 11:30 p.m. on her ride to her home near Midvale Boulevard, according to a release from the Madison Police Department.

The woman said the Uber driver battered and sexually assaulted her in his car as it was parked outside of her house, officials said.

Doetch Albert Mensah, 36, of Fitchburg, was arrested Monday night as a suspect for second-degree sexual assault and substantial battery, according to officials.

Uber did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.
