Madison woman convicted of fictitious Medicaid billings
Woman ordered to make restitution
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison woman claimed Medicaid dollars for services she failed to provide to a client, according to a court ruling.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice criminal complaint states Shantavia Dean, 19, was assigned to provide in-home health and daily cares for a Medicaid recipient for the Community Living Alliance. She went to the client’s home to get training on July 25, 2011, but did not return despite timesheets claiming she did, according to prosecutors.
They stated she submitted timesheets for unperformed work on four occasions, totaling $1,266.45 in false payments.
Judge William Hanrahan withheld sentencing, placed Dean on probation for one year and ordered her to make restitution to the Community Living Alliance for the full amount of the false payments.
