Madison superintendent submits resignation
Dan Nerad expected to leave post by Aug. 1
MADISON, Wis. — Madison Metropolitan School District Superintendent Dan Nerad submitted a resignation letter to the Madison School Board on Monday.
The Madison School Board on Monday night decided to table to resignation to a later date, saying lawyers for the district still need to review the process.
Nerad is expected to leave his position by Aug. 1.
Last week, Nerad signed a contract with the school board in Birmingham, Mich, after receiving a job offer there.
District administrators for the Detroit suburb said that they want Nerad to start July 1.
The Madison School Board is working to find an interim replacement for Nerad.
School Board President James Howard said district officials hope to have a permanent replacement for Nerad by next year.
