Madison schools report hundreds of new COVID quarantines in last week
MADISON, Wis. — Hundreds more students and staff in Madison schools have had to quarantine in the last week due to close contacts with positive COVID cases in the last week, according to the Madison Metropolitan School District’s latest coronavirus data update.
The district reported 63 confirmed positive cases and 315 new close contacts and quarantines since last week’s update.
Madison schools have now reported a total of 162 positive cases and 745 quarantines since the district reset the count on their data on August 18th.
West High School continues to see the highest number of close contacts and quarantines in the district, with 212 students and staff having to quarantine in the last two weeks. The district has confirmed 9 total cases at West High School since the start of the school year. The school has also had to cancel football games for last week and this week due to health protocols.
West has accounted for nearly 30% of the district’s close contact quarantines so far.
