Madison says ‘Happy Birthday’ to Sgt. Pepper
Enjoy a variety of shows
“It’s wonderful to be here/It’s certainly a thrill/You’re such a lovely audience, we’d like to take you home with us, we’d love to take you home.” – From “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”
If you’ve had your head in the clouds–and you’re not prone to humming “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”–you may not have heard that 2017 is the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ experimental, revolutionary and commercially successful album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
Consequently, Madison is being hit with a spate of tributes to the album. Maybe you missed Get Back Wisconsin perform “Sgt. Pepper” at the Barrymore Theatre in mid-June (a treatment the Madison-based quintet gives each Beatles record on the 50th anniversary of its release). Fortunately you can still attend Beatles scholar Aaron Krerowicz’s track-by-track dissection of the record at the Madison Senior Center on Aug. 29.
Better yet, you and your Lovely Rita can witness The Fab Four’s tribute to The Beatles at the Orpheum Theater on Nov. 18 and take in a full performance of “Sgt. Pepper” from start to finish, by RAIN at Overture Hall on March 7, 2018.
“We’re Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band/We hope you will enjoy the show/Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band/Sit back and let the evening go.”
