Madison police search for homicide suspect
Suspect believed to be armed after north side stabbing
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are searching for a homicide suspect believed to be armed after a stabbing at a north side home.
Police told WISC-TV they were called to a home in the 500 block of Waxwing Way just after 9:30 p.m. last night. Emergency medical services personnel were unable to revive the victim, who was suffering from multiple stabbing wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Matthew O’Dell, 25, is being called a suspect in the case, and police are actively searching for him. Madison police told WISC-TV they know the weapon used and the motive for the stabbing but are not announcing it publicly at this time. They do no believe it was a random act.
“We responded here for a stabbing and that is what I want the public to be aware of,” said a Madison Police spokesman at the scene. “This individual we want to talk to in relation to this crime should be treated as armed and dangerous.”
Anyone with information on O’Dell’s location or the crime itself is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
