Madison police looking for man who stole cash register

The Atwood Burglary Suspect

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are looking for a man they think may have stolen a cash register from an east side business earlier this month.

Police say staff at The Atwood at 2116 Atwood Avenue came into work on June 6th to find a missing cash register. Surveillance video showed someone entering the business through a back entrance at about 1:24 a.m. that morning.

The person seen on the surveillance video had a beard and was wearing a white Wisconsin Badgers “W” hat, white t-shirt, khaki cargo shorts and tennis shoes. He also had a tattoo on his left arm.

Police say surveillance video shows the man unsuccessfully trying to open the cash register before picking it up and carrying it out through the back door at about 1:27 a.m.
