Madison police investigating downtown homicide

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating a downtown homicide Saturday afternoon.

According to an incident report, the shooting happened on the 100 block of North Blair Street around 3:45 p.m.

The report said police were dispatched for a report of a person shot.

Officers arrived on scene and found a deceased person, who has not been positively identified, but is believed to be an adult male.

Authorities said the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office is on scene and will release the cause and manner of death.

The scene is considered active and the public is asked to avoid the area.

Police said it is not believed to be a random incident.
