Madison police investigating after person shot multiple times on west side
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating at a home on the city’s west side after a person was reportedly shot multiple times Monday night.
Police chief Shon Barnes says officers were called to the house in the area of Raymond Road and Harley Drive for a report of multiple gun shots in the area. Dane County dispatch tells News 3 Now that the initial call came in just before 7 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a person suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and attempted to render aid. Barnes did not have an official update on the status of the victim as of 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Police say multiple people were in the home at the time of the shooting, and everyone is cooperating with the investigation. Barnes did not say how many people were in the house at the time of the shooting but did say multiple people were there.
Barnes said the shooting does not appear to be random, and there was no continued threat to the community. Officers canvassed the neighborhood and told neighbors what was happening.
Barnes said officers were still very early in their investigation and more details would be released when they became available.
