Madison police investigate east side mugging
Police: Woman pushed to the ground, has wallet and cellphone stolen
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating who pushed a 29-year-old woman to the ground Thursday night before running off with her wallet and cellphone.
The incident happened near the corner of East Main Street and Riverside Drive around 10:30 p.m. Friday.
According to police, the victim was walking in the area when she was approached by an unknown man. Police said the man grabbed the victim and pushed her to the ground and stole her wallet and cellphone.
The man then took off toward downtown, according to police.
Police said the robber is described as a black man last seen wearing a dark or black puffy winter jacket. Anyone who knows anything about the incident is asked to call Madison police.
